Biography

Kuan-Wei Chen, born in 2000, began his musical journey at the age of 5 with his first piano lessons. He studied under Lu-Ning Chen for six years before continuing his studies with musicians such as Yuzhen Tsai, Prof. Wei-Wei Lee, Pei-Chi Lin, Prof. Yi Fan-Chiang, and Paul Kern. At the age of 16, he was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, Germany, where he studied under Prof. Konrad Maria Engel.

In 2021, Kuan-Wei completed his bachelor's degree and is currently pursuing a master's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under the guidance of Prof. Anna Malikova.

In 2009, Kuan-Wei made his solo debut as a pianist, performing with the Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra. In the following years, he participated in various masterclasses with musicians such as Arie Vardi, Robert Levin, Bernd Goetzke, Alexei Lubimov, Claudio-Martinez-Mehner, and others.

In 2015, he received the third prize in the adult category of the 4th Macau-Asia Pacific Youth Piano Competition and held his first piano recital at the Taoyuan Concert Hall. In 2017, he achieved first prize at the 6th International Piano Competition in Troisdorf, Germany. Additionally, in 2018, he took third place in the Flute-Piano Duo Competition at the Usedom Music Festival. Notably, he was selected as part of the 2020-2021 International Music Talent Project by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in September 2019. In 2022, he also received the prestigious New Taipei Music Rising Star Award.
